The Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights (CCDBR) is holding their Fall conference—No Place to Hide: The Rise of the Surveillance State and Its Threat to the Bill of Rights—on October 19th, 2013. The event will take place at the Northwestern University Law School (375 E. Chicago Ave, Room 140 RB) from 1:30 – 4:30 pm. Admission is free, yet donations are appreciated.
Participants at this conference will include Kade Crockford of the Massachusetts ACLU, NSA whistleblower Thomas Drake (via Skype), former FBI special agent and current ACLU D.C. member Mike German, Firedoglake.com blogger Kevin Gosztola, Adam Schwartz of the Illinois ACLU, and Amie Stepanovich of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC). The Restore the Fourth movement will also be present.
Fifteen (15) discounted parking spaces will be available for $5 each at the 321 E. Erie St. parking garage. Contact Bob Clarke to reserve one of these spaces. The rest of the spaces will be distributed at a first-come, first-serve basis.
