Art Institute Opens Doors for CAIR-Chicago Staff

Descending the long staircase and entering the Art Institute Chicago’s new Galleries for Islamic Art it is immediately apparent that one is about to witness something truly special.

It is rare in the U.S. to find a gallery dedicated to the rich art history of the Islamic world, let alone at such a prestigious museum, and CAIR-Chicago commends the institution for dedicating the space and resources to change that. At a time when Islam is so often portrayed in association with the heinous acts of groups like ISIS, it is important to remind the American public of the beautiful culture Islam has gifted the world.

Members of CAIR-Chicago’s staff gratefully accepted an invitation to tour this amazing exhibit on Wednesday and encourage others, Muslim or non-Muslim to explore the new Islamic addition to the museum.

The new gallery will be a permanent fixture in the Museum with pieces rotating in and out, showcasing the diverse and extensive collection.
