CAIR-Chicago mourns the passing of Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka. The longtime public servant died early this morning from complications of a stroke at age 70.
Comptroller Topinka truly epitomized an ideal politician who listened to and worked alongside members of both parties for the benefit of Illinois. Her office’s outreach to diverse communities in Illinois was truly genuine and heartfelt and she was earnest in connecting with CAIR-Chicago in a desire to relate to Muslim communities throughout the state. She honored CAIR-Chicago with a letter of recognition and support to commemorate the organization’s 10th anniversary in 2014.
Comptroller Topinka was reelected for a second term this past midterm elections, and would have been sworn in on January 12. CAIR-Chicago salutes the Honorable Judy Baar Topinka for nearly 35 years of public service to our great State of Illinois.
