Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director, CAIR-Chicago, had the pleasure of speaking at the Take on Hate Rally on April 19th, 2016.
Held at the Muslim American Society Chicago Center, community members and interfaith partners gathered to raise awareness about Islamic discrimination and demand that Illinois legislature also take on the initiative of bringing down hate speech.
Rehab spoke of the violent targeting of Muslim Americans and how Illinois should have zero tolerance for these actions. He was joined by speeches from other members of the interfaith community as well as Illinois Representative Theresa Mah. Each expressed the community’s responsibility to combat discriminatory and xenophobic hate language.
The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) hosted the event.
