ABC 7: Man charged after pellets fired at Morton Grove mosque

Investigators say David Conrad, 51, lives next to the mosque in Morton Grove. They say he fired a pellet rifle at the building while 500 people prayed inside Friday evening and damaged the mosque.

The MEC Masjid has invited Ahmed Rehab to speak at an event commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. and his “I Have A Dream” speech. The MEC Education Committee invited Rehab to their fourth seminar of a monthly educational series to talk about MLK and what the civil rights movement is today, 50 years later. Rehab’s speech will be followed with a question and answer for further discussion.

Outreach Coordinator Gerald Hankerson Presents to Jewish Youth Group

Outreach Coordinator Gerald Hankerson presented a workshop to a Jewish Youth Group at Beth Emet the Free Synagogue in Evanston. Hankerson provided and introduction to the concepts of Islam and a profile of the Muslim-American community. The workshop served as the kick off to an educational and interfaith program between the synagogue and the Muslim Educational Center (MEC) in Morton Grove.
