AIC hopes to proceed with its lawsuit against Des Plaines, who imposed a significant burden on the Center’s religious exercise, as well as discriminating against the Center as a religious institution and based on its Muslim affiliation, the next hearing is set for 3/17/2014.
The new rules will make it possible for Sikhs and members of other faiths to receive such waivers routinely, when possible. Orthodox Jewish service members will be allowed to wear yarmulkes while in uniform, and Muslim service members could wear beards and carry prayer beads.

CAIR-Chicago is calling on community members and people of conscience to sign a petition for the removal of Zuhdi Jasser as Commissioner on the Commission on International Religious Freedom, (USCIRF). Jasser allies himself with and receives funding from anti-Muslim organizations and personalities who work tirelessly to curb the religious and civil liberties of Muslims in the USA.
The County Board Tuesday gave unanimous thumbs-up to ordinance revisions that over the past few years were crafted, criticized and reworked in an attempt to streamline the process of locating places of assembly in residential districts. The new set of rules applies to clubs, lodges and other organizations as well as religious uses, but about 90 percent of such requests that come to the county are from faith groups.
