(CHICAGO, IL, 12/15/12) – The Chicago office of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) commends the Illinois House of Representatives for adopting House Resolution 1193 (HR 1193), which addresses violent attacks on Muslim, South Asian, and Sikh Americans, as well as other minorities, and denounces hate crimes and hateful political rhetoric.
“It’s incorrect to even imply that such a correlation exists,” said Ahmed Rehab, a Chicago director of the Council of American-Islamic Relations. “Terrorism is an equal opportunity offender as far as ethnic communities go.”
Session #1: Learn about how non-profit organizations can be involved in nonpartisan voter registration, political empowerment, and lobbying efforts on issues that affect the South Asian Community while complying with legal obligations and standards.
