CAIR-Chicago Governmental Relations Coordinator Sadiya Ahmed has been working with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and other member organizations to plan for the upcoming elections in Illinois as well as immigration policies. The meeting held on Friday, February 10 was a follow-up to a meeting held in January. With multiple bills in both the Illinois General Assembly and US Congress focused on immigration issues, this year’s efforts will be doubled. Plans for early voting press conferences, voter mobilization, and building relationships with community members were all on the agenda. This year’s theme was announced to be, ‘We Are America’. The next meeting is scheduled to be held in early March, to finalize details for the upcoming electoral session.
