Chicago Tribune: Fresh media presentation

It was great to see images reflective of American Muslims in the coverage of the “Hyde Park haircut hub on the move” (Page 1, Dec. 27). It’s a much-needed breath of fresh air from the prevalent media presentation of Muslims in contexts of strife, grief or conflict.

It affirms our understanding of America as one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world, allows a glimpse into the humanity of our shared values, and makes great strides toward allowing us to respect, not merely tolerate, our differences.
