CAIR-Chicago Attorney Rima Kapitan represented a Muslim woman in a mediation session with the EEOC. The woman’s hours were reduced immediately after she began wearing a headscarf (hijab). Co-workers would also play practical jokes on her such as slipping a sensor in her coat so that she would set off the alarms upon leaving. Although the mediation session did not produce a settlement with the prominent company, the EEOC is investigating the charge of discrimination and CAIR-Chicago will continue to seek out a resolution in the matter.
