A local condo association agreed to publish an apology for reprinting an offensive cartoon.
The condo association sent a calendar of events to its members which displayed pictures to accompany special events and holidays. However, on the August 10th calendar spot highlighting the holy day of Isra Al Mi-Raj (Ascent of the Prophet Muhammad), the picture chosen to accompany it was one of the infamously derogatory Danish cartoon caricatures.
CAIR-Chicago PILI Fellow Elisa Jillson wrote a letter to the condo association explaining why Muslim members of the association were offended by the image. After receiving the letter, the condo association agreed to publish an apology for printing the cartoon.
