In response to the Daily Herald article: “Faithfully delicious”
I enjoyed reading “Faithfully delicious,” about Yvonne Maffei, a Muslim of Puerto Rican and Sicilian heritage who blogs about halal cooking. The article on Maffei and her husband, who is of Mexican and Italian heritage, reflects the ethnic diversity among American Muslims. The article even demystifies Islamic dietary laws; as Maffei points out, food from all cultures is acceptable if prepared in accordance with halal guidelines. Thank you for printing an article that doesn’t rely on tired stereotypes of Muslims. I hope to read more uplifting stories that highlight religious diversity in the United States.
