Join CAIR-Chicago as we remember Chairman Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party in Chicago. Chairman Fred was a leader in the 60’s civil rights movement, but was assassinated by the Chicago Police Department under the direct orders of then FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, at the young age of 21. His legacy of resistance and self-empowerment has lived on, however, through various political activists, civil rights lawyers, and his son Fred Hampton Jr. Fred Hampton Jr. is a leading prisoner rights and prison reform advocate and is the annual key note speaker for the Fred Hampton Street Party. We at CAIR-Chicago hope to see you there.
