CAIR-Chicago Holds Press Conference on New Muslim Ban

(Chicago, IL 3/06/17) – TODAY Monday, March 6 , the Council on American-Islamic-Relations Chicago (CAIR-Chicago) will held press conference to react to President Trump signing executive orders restricting immigration from the Muslim-majority countries of Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. CAIR-Chicago will also officially announce the launch of its special Traveler Assistance Project TAP, along with TAP partners, Matt Pryor, Ian Wagreich of Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd and Ed Yohnka of ACLU-IL.

The new Order remains only another attempt at making a ‘Muslim Ban’ constitutional.

“This remains arbitrary – zero fatal attacks from the banned countries – and still with a high cost to innocent US families, universities, and businesses. ” Says Ahmed Rehab, Executive Director of CAIR-Chicago. ” We know it is a Muslim ban because the administration admitted as much: Trump called for one in the campaign trail and Rudy Giuliani said he was asked to draft an Executive Order for a Muslim ban with legal cover. Clearly they failed the first time and this is just a second attempt at the same but with more efforts at a legal cover. We will challenge every attempt at banning Muslims, and will remain ready to assist all travelers whose rights are violated.”
