Six years after the U.S. government barred Tariq Ramadan from entering the U.S., the controversial Muslim scholar will speak in Chicago on Saturday — one of his first American appearances since U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton promised he would no longer be denied a visa for having alleged ties to terrorism. His opponents warn of danger ahead.
CAIR-Chicago is pleased to announce that Professor Tariq Ramadan will be the keynote speaker at our 6th Annual Banquet. This will be his first event in the U.S. in nearly six years, since the Bush Administration’s ban. Ramadan was chosen as one of the world’s 100 most influential human beings by TIME magazine and currently teaches at Oxford University.
Congressman Keith Ellison will be the key note speaker for CAIR-NJ’s 2008 Annual Banquet. Ahmed Rehab, CAIR’s National Strategic Communications Coordinator and CAIR-Chicago’s Executive Director will be a guest speaker.
Join CAIR-Chicago and support your local chapter of the biggest Muslim civil rights advocacy group in the country. Speakers TBA.
